Sheraton Grand Conakry
IFC Award – International Finance Corporation · Africa's first Platinum-rated green hotel
On a pristine beachfront on the Atlantic edge of Conakry, GA designed a five-star business hotel that had to meet two competing briefs at once: international flagship polish, and a construction logic that could be delivered in West Africa at speed.
The answer was tunnel-form construction – the 11-storey core and shell were completed in five months. The building's mass is broken by deep shading, and its environmental performance earned recognition from the International Finance Corporation as the first Platinum-rated green hotel on the African continent.
GA carried the project from master plan to architecture, interiors and lighting – one continuous design intelligence from the arrival sequence to the last bedside detail.
