Shah Residence
The Shah Residence is built from three materials and one idea: travertine for permanence, timber for warmth, and planted terraces to soften the line between them. The idea is dusk – every elevation is composed for the hour when the stone goes silver and the wood begins to glow.
Deep verandas and screened balconies manage the climate without machinery, and the massing is arranged so the house arrives gradually from the drive rather than all at once.
It is GA's architectural thesis at house scale: purity of form, composed for the way light – sun by day, lamplight by evening – moves across it.
